Job Title: Floral Design Director Location: San Leandro Job Type: Full Time Position Overview: We are seeking a highly creative and experienced Floral Design Director to lead and manage our floral design team. This role requires an individual with a deep passion for flowers, an eye for detail, and a comprehensive understanding of design principles, trends, and logistics of executing stunning floral arrangements for various events, retail displays, and other special projects. The Floral Design Director will oversee all aspects of the design process, from concept development to execution, while ensuring high-quality designs and exceptional customer service. Key Responsibilities: 1. Creative Leadership: • Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of floral designers, ensuring creativity and innovation in every project. • Stay up to date on the latest floral design trends, techniques, and industry best practices. • Collaborate with other departments, including event planners, sales, and marketing teams, to understand client needs and create custom designs for events, weddings, retail displays, and special occasions. • Develop and pitch new floral design concepts that align with company vision and client expectations. 2. Design Execution: • Oversee the creation of custom floral designs, ensuring designs meet high-quality standards. • Manage all aspects of floral design for high profile events, and installations, including selecting flowers, sourcing materials, and creating arrangements. 3. Team Management: • Supervise and train a team of designers, ensuring each member adheres to company standards of design, quality, and customer service. • Conduct performance reviews, provide constructive feedback, and manage the scheduling and workflow of the design team. • Foster a positive, creative, and collaborative environment within the team. 4. Client Interaction and Consultation: • Directly interact with clients to understand their needs, offering personalized design consultations and recommendations. • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring their expectations are exceeded. • Provide ongoing communications with clients throughout the design process, including follow-up and final approval of designs. 5. Administrative Responsibilities: • Manage budgets for floral design projects, ensuring cost-effective solutions while maintaining the highest quality. • Assist with purchasing and managing floral inventory, ensuring proper stock levels and quality control. • Work closely with the marketing and sale teams to develop promotional materials, social media content, and special offers to showcase floral design work. 6. Event Coordination: • Oversee floral design and setup at events, ensuring timely delivery. • Ensure that all floral designs are cohesive and reflect the client’s vision and the overall event theme. Qualifications: • Education: A degree or diploma in floral design, interior design, or a related field is preferred. • Experience: - A minimum of 5-7 years of experience in floral design, with at least 3 years in a leadership or managerial role. - Extensive knowledge of floral varieties, design principles, color theory, and floral arrangement techniques. • Skills: - Strong leadership, organizational, communication skills. - Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously. - Exceptional creativity and attention to detail - Proficiency in design software (e.g. Adobe Creative Suite) is a plus - Knowledge of current floral trends and sustainability practices. • Physical Requirements: - Ability to lift and move heavy flower boxes and materials. - Comfort working in a physically demanding environment for extended periods. • Personal Attributes: - Highly creative with a passion for floral design and art. - Strong problem-solving skills, able to think creatively under pressure - Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with clients and team members. - Strong aesthetic sense with an eye color, texture, and design balance.
