Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Day to day functions): • Day to day interaction with shop employees including all levels of management. • Changing and improving processes to increase productivity and competitiveness. • Perform First Article Inspection (FAI), In-Process (at Manufacturing cells) and Final • Inspection for Sheet Metal and Welding departments • Create, maintain, and/or revise specialized quality documentation (e.g. procedures, work instructions, etc.) • Assist with shipping inspections and perform receiving inspections on incoming product. • Participate in both internal and external audits to verify conformance of activities to quality assurance standards. • Assist with and / or administer the employee training and related aspects of on-the-job training • Ensure conformance to all specifications, internal work tickets and shop practices. • Able to read engineering blueprints that include interpreting flat and formed sheet metal parts, weld symbols and assembled products. • Issue internal and supplier non-conformance reports when defective parts have been identified. • Assist on customer complaints during the investigation process. • Properly use and care for precision measurement tools • Assist with calibration and preventative maintenance programs for the facility. • Assist with safety program for the facility. • Recommend changes in SOP’s, blueprints, production standards, and other actions that will improve operations performance. • Maintain part and lot traceability information throughout the inspection process. • Open to overtime as production requirements require it. • Ability to make unbiased, data-driven decisions. Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: • Required 2 years’ experience demonstrating strong ability of inspection at a precision sheet metal company. • Preferred knowledgeable in ISO9001 quality systems and operations. (Laser, Forming, Welding, Assembly, Paint). • Must be proficient at reading and understanding written processes, engineering blueprints, safety and work instructions, maintenance instructions, SOPs and work tickets. • Must know how to use standard measuring equipment. (Calipers, Micrometers, Height Gage) • Proficient in using Microsoft products (Excel, Word, Outlook) • Ability to interface effectively with shop personnel, support groups, customers, and management. • Strong problem-solving ability in resolving complex problems arising during the fabrication process. Includes investigation and recommendations for productivity enhancements. Physical Requirements: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is required to stand (for long periods of time); walk and stoop, and kneel, to perform the required duties throughout the work day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus Work Environment: This position is performed in a non-climate-controlled temperature environment. Work area is in an open shop environment, which requires walking between work centers to perform some inspections.
