This will include researching, writing, editing, proofing, and publishing information that effectively and accurately supports the organization’s communications goals and objectives. In addition, the Communications Manager will also provide administrative, organizational, and communication support to the V.P. for Policy & Community Development. This position requires excellent oral and written communication, adherence to deadlines, management of administrative and organizational needs, and multi-tasking. Reliability and accuracy in note taking and follow up communications are essential. Local travel is required for meetings, errands, or events. Growing Up New Mexico is a 501(c)3 organization located in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Inherent in our mission are guiding principles that center on the belief that all families are capable of success if given the right opportunities and resources at the right time. The focus of our work is to demonstrate and implement effective and proven early childhood and family support strategies, prenatal to age five, focused on quality, equity, and access. Growing Up NM utilizes two parallel, mutually informed strategies in all we do: a local programmatic approach and a state-wide policy approach, with each continually informing the other. Key areas of Responsibility: Propose and implement communication strategies, plans, and campaigns to boost and promote the work of Growing Up NM and tell the story of the organization. This includes collaboration with the organization’s President & CEO and/or Leadership Team as well as other cross-functional teams. Maintain a comprehensive communications calendar for all external communication activities. Follow organizational news, along with relevant local and national news as it relates to the work of the policy team. Develop and execute content (Website, email blasts, social media, press releases, video, and other communication materials) that best conveys key messages and meets the goals of Growing Up New Mexico. This includes: Collaborating with other Leadership team members to identify public voice of brand. Work with program managers to identify and implement organizational messaging goals. Adhere to Growing Up NM’s brand in all content. Maintain a commitment to language equity and bilingual content. Consult with executive management on effective communications procedure with press and maintain media relations. Measure + analyze current communications efforts Manage and review content for organization’s public-facing website, update with fresh content on a regular basis. Manage and maintain organization’s social media account. Maintain a detailed knowledge of and oversee organization of Growing Up New Mexico’s policy teamwork. Provide assistance, scheduling, and coordination, as needed, for Growing Up NM meetings and manage scheduling alignment for the core Growing Up NM team. Represent Growing Up NM as the first point of contact with the community. Note taking and follow up for meetings as required. Schedule appointments and conference calls, as needed. Maintain calendars and track deadlines across multiple projects. Research subjects and summarize findings on topics related to early childhood as directed. Develop, refine, and administer surveys of stakeholders. Perform initial analysis of survey results or other qualitative and quantitative information. Assist with program strategies and coordination of consultants and other partners. Assume additional duties as necessary. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree Three years of executive support or related experience Proven track record of excellent and courteous customer service to diverse stakeholders and the community Ability to analyze pertinent data and prepare related reports. Knowledge of general office software, particularly the Microsoft Office Suite and ability to use and manipulate databases. Excellent organization skills, efficiency, and accuracy with details Ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal form. Ability to handle confidential information with discretion. Ability to function effectively as a team member and work independently. Ability to work well in culturally diverse setting and knowledge of local population served. Ability to pass a mandatory background clearance required of all childcare workers in the State of New Mexico. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, or sit for prolonged periods, and use computer equipment and cell phones.  The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.  The employee must be able to lift 40 pounds.  Occasional local travel is required for meetings, events and errands.
