Hi, my name is Jesse Washmon. A native of Denton TX, I offer guitar lessons at my private studio in downtown Denton as well as online via zoom. I teach all styles - Jazz, Rock, Classical, Acoustic, and more - as well as all ages and abilities. Lesson material ranges from learning how to play simple chords and read basic notation to learning how to improvise over chord changes, understand basic harmony, and play by ear. I love working with all students, whether younger, older, experienced, or have never touched an instrument before!
Just a little about myself. I have been teaching music for the past ten years in the D/FW area with studios of 40+ students. I have a great passion for educating and playing music alike. I did my undergraduate studies in Guitar at TCU and Master's in Jazz Guitar at UNT. I am currently adjunct professor of Guitar at El Centro college in Dallas. As a professional guitarist I have performed in many different settings. As a classical guitarist I have performed in national operas, with symphonic orchestras, for major ballet companies, as well as extensive solo freelance work. As a jazz and rock guitarist, I have performed across the metroplex with my own trio, as a pit guitarist for musicals, and a sideman for local rock and blues bands.
I charge $25 per half hour for lessons (billed monthly). 1hr, 45m, and 30m weekly lessons are available as well as 1hr bi-weekly. Students are free to cancel anytime, though I do appreciate a month's grace period. I offer a free trial lesson online and a $10 trial in person. For both in-person and online lessons, the student has access to my online studio portal which houses materials for each lesson as well as a complimentary recap video that each student receives after every lesson. Online lessons incorporate a digital fretboard, which makes it easy to see exactly what I am doing on the instrument, as well as the sheet music clearly displayed in external windows.
In addition to guitar, I also teach cello, piano, bass guitar, mandolin, violin, viola, ukulele, and music production software, if interested in any of those please let me know as well!
