Did you receive abdominal/pelvic radiation for cancer? - Upper East Side




Body fat, (adipose tissue), is an important organ that is linked to overall metabolic health. Researchers at The Rockefeller University are studying how fat metabolism may be affected in people who previously received radiation to the pelvis/abdomen to treat a pelvic cancer (compared to people who did not receive radiation). You may be eligible if you: Are between 18-99 years old Previously received radiation treatment to the abdomen or pelvis for any of the following cancers: prostate, cervical, endometrial, anal, rectal Have a BMI between 18.5-29.9 (https://www.nhlbi.nih.gov/health/educational/lose_wt/BMI/bmicalc.htm) Are not HIV positive Do not have diabetes Do not have high cholesterol Have not used NSAIDS (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) or steroids in recent weeks.
