Reporting to the Chief Downtown Officer, you’ll manage strategic real estate and economic development projects that align with the STL 2030 Jobs Plan and the Design Downtown STL vision. This is a leadership opportunity for someone ready to use strategic planning, financial analysis, and stakeholder engagement to make a meaningful civic impact across multiple commercial sectors. Your Key Focus Areas Strategic Execution – Implement key components of the Design Downtown STL Plan and the STL 2030 Jobs Plan Redevelopment & Infill – Drive projects that reduce vacancies and revitalize commercial corridors Real Estate Strategy – Oversee market analysis and feasibility studies Public-Private Investment – Structure and secure financing through partnerships, incentives, and grants Stakeholder Collaboration – Act as a trusted advisor with developers, property owners, civic leaders, and permitting agencies Success Measures Include: Delivering real estate and urban development projects on time and within scope Expanding Downtown retail, restaurant, and other amenities Securing and leveraging investment to catalyze Downtown redevelopment Creating stronger economic foundations for business attraction and retention Attracting and retaining retail and other businesses Championing innovation and inclusivity in economic development Supporting a vibrant, livable, and competitive Downtown What You Bring to the Table Bachelor’s degree in Business, Real Estate Development, Urban Planning, Economic Development, or a related field (Advanced degree a plus) 6+ years of experience in real estate development, urban redevelopment, economic development, or a related discipline Backgrounds such as Business Development Manager, Senior Transaction Coordinator, Urban Planning Associate, Consultant or similar are welcome Strong knowledge of incentive structures, public-private partnerships, zoning, permitting, and redevelopment tools Advanced skills in budgeting, financial modeling, and real estate strategy High-level relationship-building and negotiation skills across sectors Experience working across complex stakeholder environments and navigating approval processes Help Shape What’s Next This isn’t just about real estate—it’s about legacy.
