Hey everyone. As the title of this ad states, we, Voimaton, are looking for a guitarist specializing in playing metal. Specifically, doom metal and death metal. Please note that we tune down to A Standard. We are seeking an interested individual that meets the following criteria:
- You want to write and play dynamic, downtempo, heavy, hateful, punishing music. Emphasis heavily on the doom metal side, but death metal chops and songwriting ability a must.
- You possess your own, professional gear and you know how to play it.
- You possess, or have access to, a reliable mode of transportation.
- You are able and willing to practice at least once a week (Currently we meet on Saturday nights).
- You want to join and collaborate in a full-time, established band and everything that that entails.
- You want to play shows around Chicagoland, the United States, and abroad.
- You want to tour occasionally, play big fests, and play of-quality shows. Touring experience highly preferred, but not required.
- You want to record and are willing and able to do so. Studio experience also highly preferred, but not required.
- You hold down a job, or have a source of income.
- You are not a piece of shit, you get on with a variety of different people equally, and you're fun to be around.
Our influences are as follows:
Cianide (HUGE Influence), Saint Vitus (HUGE Influence), The Obsessed, Jungle Rot (Early material). Rippikoulu, Candlemass (Längquist / Marcolin eras), Evoken, Purtenance (Early material only), Winter, Triptykon, Anatomia, Coffins (Early material), etc
Imagine if the death metal bands listed above played in a doom metal style, and vice versa. Again, specifically Cianide and Saint Vitus. Heavy emphasis on the doom metal side of songwriting, but this is generally what we're trying to achieve musically.
About Voimaton:
Long story short, Voimaton has been together for 6+ years. The band was formed in 2018. We're a three-piece band and we aim to keep it that way. The current members of Voimaton were previously in Narcotic together and this band began when Narcotic split up. Since our formation, we've signed to a label, released a full-length album, been featured on prominent metal websites, and played some fairly big shows with top acts. Our core influences and inspiration for the band are Cianide and Saint Vitus. We have a practice room at Superior St. in the city of Chicago. Once we fill the guitarist role, we hope to get to work on writing a second album, playing more of-quality shows, and eventually tour every now and then.
