compensation:
$400-$500 for 5.5 months study participation
The Human Factors Safety Laboratory of the University of Minnesota is seeking volunteers ages 60-89 to participate in a driving research study. In this study, you will be asked to drive normally for 5 months while using a potential driver coaching smartphone app, meditation coaching app while not driving, both apps, or will be randomly assigned to a control group (no coaching app). Using your input, we hope to gain insight into the wants and needs of drivers in order to design a highly effective and usable system for assisting drivers. Participation in this study will constitute reimbursement in the form of a $400 prepaid debit card for study completion. Our study will last approximately 5.5 months. A subset of participants may be asked to participate in a driving study on University of Minnesota Twin Cities campus. These participants must have no history of motion sickness. Simulation study participation will be compensated with an additional $100. Participating in the simulation portion is optional, and doesn’t affect your eligibility to join the study. To be eligible, we ask that you hold a current and valid driver’s license and vehicle insurance, drive a minimum of 4,000 miles each year, have normal or corrected vision (20/40 or better), own an iPhone or Android smartphone, and have no cognitive, hearing, or physical constraints that may limit your driving performance, and be 60-89 years of age. Participants must pass a screening process, including an over the phone cognitive assessment. If you would like to participate, please complete the initial online screening questionnaire here: https://umn.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_6GpdUe8FnnQxDlY If you have any questions about the study, please contact one of the researchers in our lab: Marshall Mabry at mabry018@umn.edu or Katelyn Schwieters at schwi154@umn.edu post id: 0151269394
