Top 3 Interior Trends for 2019

Time to update your space

Are you thinking of revamping your living space soon or maybe just looking to spruce up rented accommodation? We’ve rounded up the top three most popular interior trends that we’re seeing everywhere this year, from Instagram to Pinterest, and curated a shoppable edit for each key trend so that you can just as easily incorporate whichever one tickles your fancy into your home, whether it’s one you own or one for the interim.

Brass Accents

In case you weren’t already aware, stainless steel is out — it’s all about warm tones now and it’s easy to see why. While stainless steel and silver can look cool, they also feel cool and not in a good way. Brass, on the other hand, invites that feeling of warmth and adds a more homey feel to a room.

Brass accents can work all over your home, from the kitchen and bathroom to the bedroom and living room, but the most common way to incorporate brass is through taps and even shower heads. If you are renovating your home, you can also add brass knobs to kitchen cabinets which will tie in beautifully with brass sink taps. If you’re on the other end of the spectrum and are living in rented accommodation, you can still incorporate brass accents via mirrors, frames and even light fixtures.

Velvet

Ahh, velvet. It isn’t exactly new on the block but this retro trend is stronger than ever this year. You’ll find velvet covering just about everything from sofas and cushions to curtains, dining room chairs and even lampshades. Velvet furniture is one of the most popular ways people have been incorporating this trend into their living space, however, not everyone is willing to drop a substantial amount of money on a new sofa just because it’s on trend. So, alternatively, a more affordable option is to add velvet cushions to your bed or sofa to add subtle, non-permanent hints of the trend.

Pink and Green

Pink and green should never be seen.

Arguably our favourite interior trend right now, pink and green is the colour combo of the moment. If you have already invested in last year’s millennial pink trend, then injecting some green into your home should be easy. Again, cushions or even a throw are great ways to test out this colour trend in quite an inexpensive way. Alternatively, plants are the perfect way to add more green to your living space. I mean, what millennial home is complete without a fiddle leaf fig? So, why not pop down to your local garden store and pick up some plants? — bonus points for planting them in pink pots.
