All the hustle and bustle of the holiday season can take its toll on your body and your mind. Between frantic last minute shopping, Christmas dinner and all those parties you just can’t refuse, by the time the new year comes around you can be left feeling a little deflated. Which is why it’s nice to treat yourself and indulge in a little ‘me’ time when the moment arises.
Below, we’ve rounded up six simple tips and tricks that you can exercise to make you feel good this holiday season and beyond.
Recently, the world has become fascinated by the Swedish way of living and the Scandi trend that has overtaken hygge known as Lagom. In simple terms, Lagom translates to “just the right amount”; so not too much, not too little. It summarises a Swedish way of living that espouses balance.
However, achieving balance in our hectic lives is easier said than done but this Christmas, treat yourself by embracing the essence of Lagom. This means buying gifts with thought for people and the environment at large; think quality over quantity, especially when it comes to eating and drinking! Spend just enough that you’re not in the red come the new year and make yourself available to just enough people so that you’re not stretched to the point of exhaustion. Have a Lagom Christmas!
There’s nothing that a blast of your favourite songs can’t cure. It doesn’t matter how tiresome a day has been, popping on your headphones and turning the volume up loud is a surefire way to boost your mood and take your mind off of things. Round up all of your favourites, from the old school hits such as Mariah Carey’s All I Want for Christmas Is You (a seasonal classic) to the current wonders, in one playlist and get lost in the power of music. (But don’t blame us if you start dancing in public!)
To get you in the spirit of Christmas, we’ve put together a festive playlist which you can find here.
Christmas is all about family time but with all the commotion, sometimes it’s best to take a day and have a little ‘me’ time instead. In the cold dark evenings of winter, what better way to relax than with an indulgent bath? With all the gorgeous bath bombs and salts that are available now, this time, go all out- light some candles, put on some music and make it the special event it can be! If you can’t do it around the holidays then when can you?
The freezing cold air mixed with central heating can play havoc with your hair at this time of year. In order to maintain the mane, it’s vital to find a moment in your schedule that you can dedicate to haircare because as we all know, when your hair looks good, you feel good too.
After washing, style your hair with the luxurious Dyson Supersonic hair dryer which is designed to protect your hair from extreme heat damage, leaving it looking healthy and party-ready.
If you feel guilty spending on a trip to the beauticians or you simply don’t have the time to book an appointment, why not DIY it? Take a leaf out of the K-beauty trend book and give yourself a 20 step (or as many or as little steps as you like) at-home facial. Grab yourself one of our favourite sheet masks, lower the lights, put on some music and relax for a while, even if it’s only for 10 minutes.
Did you know that plants have some serious benefits for your mind and body, as well as your décor? Not only do they look and smell divine, they’ve also been proven to lower stress and increase oxygen levels. So, the next time you walk past a flower stand make sure to stock up and reap the health benefits a flower-filled home (or office) can bring.
