To mark the 100 year anniversary of the inspirational and revolutionary German Bauhaus art school, COS has launched a limited collection, entitled Archive Editions. The 13-piece capsule collection comprises of six womenswear and six menswear pieces, plus one accessory, and is taking direct inspiration from the school and its creative ethos. To celebrate this anniversary, COS has delved into the archives, spanning 12 years in total, to resurrect and reinvent some of their classic pieces that defined past seasons – pieces that closely represent the common aesthetic and approach to art and fashion that Bauhaus first adopted in the early twentieth century by revolutionising the treatment of art to include design and architecture which continues to inspire COS today.
As expected from COS, the capsule collection epitomises form and function in its considered design, by recreating a collection that is not only timeless but representative of the Bauhaus movement that it was most renowned for. Using a mixture of traditional and innovative techniques and materials, the pieces chosen from the limited collection are showcased in a palette of greys and white, each specifically chosen to reflect the architecture of the school building itself. Each garment was carefully selected as a piece that not only represents the close association with Bauhaus but also modernised to sit in line with COS’s current collection, with intricate detailing such as draping, darts and seam detailing added.
The COS Bauhaus collection is currently available online and in-store.
