Yesterday evening, H&M revealed the name of the latest designer to collaborate with the high street giant on an exclusive guest collection. Giambattista Valli, a name known for his couture designs, is the 18th designer to partner with the brand since Karl Lagerfeld first collaborated back in 2004.

The news was announced at the annual amfAR gala in Cannes last night where Kendall Jenner, Chiara Ferragni, H.E.R, Chris Lee, and Ross Lynch attended the event dressed in five of the must-have pieces from the collection which includes womenswear and, for the first time, menswear.

Described as “creative, cool, and couture-like,” the collection will offer a taste of haute couture for those who cannot afford it which, let’s face it, is most of us. You can expect ruffles, lace, silk, and tulle ballgowns and cocktail dresses, all beautifully crafted but with price points around €100-€500 for the most extravagant pieces, it will be the most expensive designer collaboration H&M has produced so far.

Speaking about the collection, Valli said, “I am excited about this collaboration: H&M gives me the opportunity to bring my vision of style and my celebration of beauty to a wider audience. The goal is to share my love for beauty and to be able to be part of everyone’s “happy moments”, to help create love stories all around the world.”

“We are thrilled to collaborate with Giambattista Valli. He is the undisputed master of haute couture with a knack for the memorable silhouette. To be able to bring his signature styles to our customers is a dream come true. We can’t wait to see their reactions to this beautiful collection” says Ann-Sofie Johansson, Creative Advisor at H&M.

A limited pre-collection of the Giambattista Valli x H&M collaboration as worn by Kendall Jenner and co. will be available in 12 selected H&M stores around the world and on hm.com from 25th May. The main collection launches worldwide on 7th November 2019. Watch this space.
