Sometimes it is just easier to roll out a mat and do a quick 30-minute session in the mornings rather than having to head to the gym. Thanks to YouTube, it is much easier to pop on a workout video and sweat it out in the comfort of your own home. At home workouts that are favourites in the maven46 HQ are Yoga with Adriene, The Body Coach and Blogilates.
Couch to 5k is an app designed to help novice runners run five kilometres in 9 weeks. Starting off slow, the app encourages you to build up stamina through gently easing the user into running. For example, during week one the user will run three times a week with the runs consisting of “a brisk 5-minute walk, then alternate one minute of running and 1-and-a-half minutes of walking, for a total of 20 minutes”. By week 9, the user should be doing three runs a week for 30 mins and should be able to run 5k.
Maybe it’s because it’s the exercise of choice for many supermodels, we’re looking at you Gigi Hadid, but boxercise has seen a spike in popularity recently. It’s the perfect after-work workout as it is a great stress reliever and can help boost your mood. The exercise itself is based on movements that boxers use to stay fit. Boxing classes will tone your muscles, burn fat and build strength which makes it easy to see why it has become so popular.
