Kicking off awards season with a subtle bang, the 76th Annual Golden Globes took place in Hollywood yesterday. Though there was no colour code to abide by this year, attendees, for the most part, eschewed colour and went back to black, which dominated last year, in what was a tame red carpet affair.

Rachel Weisz ruffled feathers in a monochromatic Hedi Slimane for Celine design, Laura Harrier was a vision in sequinned Louis Vuitton, but Rosamund Pike was a cut above the rest in a black cut-out Givenchy dress and sequin jacket.

There were a few colourful exceptions of course. Crazy Rich Asians star Constance Wu wooed us in a champagne and burnt orange tulle dress by Vera Wang, while Lady Gaga’s periwinkle blue Valentino gown (along with her matching blue hair) is dominating Instagram today.

It was a Carlow native, however, who, in our opinion, deserves the award for best dressed. Saoirse Ronan’s red carpet game has gone from strength to strength in recent times, and she truly shone, quite literally, last night in a dazzling silver Gucci number which you can fawn over in the slideshow below.
