The days are shorter, the weather cooler, and getting dressed in the morning is suddenly a lot more difficult than it was four weeks ago. All this can only mean one thing: autumn has arrived, but only just. While the last few days of summer have been ushered out, it’s not quite sweater weather just yet.
No longer warm enough for the midi dresses and shorts that treated you so well during the summer months but not cold enough for faux fur and teddy coats, September is peak time for transitional dressing. And the key to any transitional wardrobe? A blazer, of course.
Having dominated the catwalks for the autumn/winter 2018 shows back in February, blazers are a key outerwear trend for the incoming season. Oversized linen and cotton styles work well for those in-between days where the mornings look deceivingly chilly but the afternoons leave you sweltering, while structured corduroy and tweed variations are a must for when the days get cooler. If you haven’t already invested in a blazer (or five), now is the time. Whether you opt for a double breast or hourglass waist, kick off your autumn wardrobe in a blaze of glory and shop the maven46 edit of the best blazers to buy this season below.
