Summer has arrived (well, kind of) and we’re getting excited about transitioning into our new season wardrobe. Now is the time to pick up new pieces for that holiday you have planned, and of course, the most important item in any suitcase is swimwear!

This season, there is a host of new styles making waves. So, whether you prefer to be by the beach or the pool, in an all-in-one or bikini, we’ve got you covered on the key pieces to pack.

Ruffled Shoulders

While it may not seem like a match made in heaven, ruffled swimwear is a big trend this season. But for those who may be dismissive of this particular style, pause for a moment. While a ruffle in the wrong place can emphasise all the wrong things, when added to the right part it can be highly flattering. Ruffled detailing around the shoulders and neckline can help to balance a bottom-heavy figure and make a smaller chest look bigger.

Geometric Cut-outs

A really fun style of swimwear, geometric cutouts show off a bit more skin in a very cool way. The most popular style of swimwear for this particular trend is the monokini (but try to ignore those Ali G thoughts) but remember that this style is more about pool-to-bar than sunbathing as it will leave you with weird tan lines so be careful!

Polka Dots

Polka dots are huge this season, so it is no surprise that the trend extends to swimwear. Just don’t blame us if you can’t stop singing Brian Hyland’s infamous song, Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikini!

Front Ties

Bikini tops are getting tied up at the front this season! This trend enables you to change up the way you wear your bikini. Tie it in a cute bow or just have it loosely knotted, whichever you choose adds a little something extra to your swimwear. Plus, some of the front tie tops can also be worn different ways which means you can play around with styles.

Playa campagin by J Crew

A trend that has resurfaced from the ’80s and ’90s, this retro super high-cut style is reminiscent of the Baywatch era and while it may seem quite risqué, high-rise swimwear can be incredibly flattering as it works to elongate your legs.
