Britney Spears is no stranger to the limelight, yet, for someone of such magnitude and arguably one of the most ardent fan bases in pop culture, this is the first time in the singer’s career which spans 26 years that she has ever fronted a campaign for a luxury fashion brand. Enter Kenzo.
Tapping Britney, the woman who wore a denim dress with a matching denim handbag, accompanied by her then-boyfriend Justin Timberlake who also wore head-to-toe denim to the American Music Awards in 2001, as the face of La Collection Memento N°2, a collection which focuses heavily on denim, was a smart move by Kenzo’s creative directors, Carol Lim and Humberto Leon.
The playful campaign features Britney wearing pieces like a cropped denim jacket, denim baseball cap and lace-up denim boots on the streets of Los Angeles, putting a modern twist on the popstar’s iconic look.
The collection, which is available from today, delves into the archives of the brand’s history and pays tribute to the debut of Kenzo Jeans which launched in 1986.
La Collection Memento N°2 is available at Kenzo.com.
