As denim is permanently placed in our wardrobes all year round it’s easy for us to fall into a rut because let’s face it, nobody likes shopping for jeans. Reaching for our old reliables always lends a comforting hand but unfortunately with the word ‘comfort’ comes the mundane which is not what you want approaching a new sunnier season. It’s time to hit refresh on your denim capsule and breathe new life into your wardrobe. Whether you want to replace your old silhouettes or simply want to evoke feelings of spontaneity then browse our edit of the top denim styles that will see you through the coming months and beyond.
This old-school silhouette has been dubbed the ‘It’ skirt of the summer, gently pushing your denim Daisy Dukes to the side – cue the sigh of relief. Opt for a shorter length if you are venturing into warmer climes. Team this versatile skirt with a pyjama shirt and pool slides for that everyday effortless look.
This new styling trick has made its way onto our Spring/Summer radar after being exposed by a throng of celebrities pounding the pavements with the supersize cuff. Remember, DIY is an option by rolling up an old pair of jeans you are yet to grow into or if you are feeling like being generous to yourself invest in a pair from our edit below.
Move over mom jeans, there’s a new slouchy silhouette taking over in the form of the oversized skater pant, which is good news for all you comfort seekers. Team this jean with a slim fitted tee or cropped jacket to avoid a fabric overshare. Elevate your look with a slim heel if you need extra height.
Extirpate any juvenile associations you may hold as the denim pinafore has matured and is all grown up. Avoid wearing gingham or plaid shirts with this style, unless of course raunch dressing is your preferred look. Pair with neutral or Breton tops for an easy summer go-to or dress up with a fine knit polo and new season mules. Cautionary rules apply; tops are a must.
