By 1905, women could finally wear a suit without scandalising the nation. With its empowering style and genderless guise the allure prevails and therefore it comes as no surprise that this renowned two-piece is back on the catwalks this season, a season of defiance and gender free roles in fashion providing us with the strongest of silhouettes to suit.
The beauty of buying a pantsuit is its winning ability to give you a sense of empowerment, not to mention making you appear taller and slimmer. Gone are the days of boring, stiff corporate suits that make you feel utterly drab, the future of tailored tuxedos going forward looks bright. Taking out cue from iconic trouser suit wears such as Grace Jones, legendary queen of how to work a co-ord broke fashion moulds with her angular and fierce androgynous take on the classic staple, whilst Yves Saint Laurent first showcased his now infamous tuxedo in 1966 as part of his ‘Pop collection’. Thankfully designers have emulated the fearless and beguilingly sexy look for the season to come, adding a little sassiness but accessible touches for the masses.
Choosing the right suit should accentuate all the right areas and make you feel like you can take over the world. Stepping into a slimming pantsuit should make you feel organised whether you are or not, this is a fool-proof disguise of reassuring yourself and others that you are in control, no wonder why women in politics are opting for the tailored look.
