You may have heard of Grace Coddington’s new title as Creative Partner at Tiffany & Co. and while we’ve already had a sneak peek at some of Grace’s personal sketches from behind the scenes at the Legendary Style ad campaign shoot, this short film created by R.J. Cutler will give an even deeper insight into what went on at Grace’s first shoot for the brand.
The short film “Some Style is Legendary”, which is all about Grace’s creative process, explores the making of the Fall 2016 Legendary Style campaign. Filmmaker R.J. Cutler captures Grace Coddington behind the scenes of her first Tiffany & Co. brand campaign, including shots of Grace’s home studio, photo shoots and closed-door meetings. Cutler and Coddington have worked together in the past as the filmmaker was also behind The September Issue, the 2007 Vogue fashion documentary. In “Some Style is Legendary” Cutler takes viewers behind the scenes as Coddington partners with Tiffany to break new creative ground.
Grace has been one of the most influential figures in fashion over the past 50 years, with her work for both British and American Vogue some of the most well-known and highly regarded in the industry. In the trailer below we get a snippet of Grace’s thoughts while developing the concept for her first Tiffany & Co. ad campaign: “Blue is a very extraordinary color,” she says. “It’s a very positive color. I always say, ‘Why do I love New York?’ It’s because the sky’s always blue. It’s an extraordinary city because it is old, and also incredibly new. In a funny kind of way, that’s the way you can describe Tiffany.”
