Embroidered clothing is huge this year as designers are using this intricate technique to spruce up any and every item this season. Take your cue from Stella McCartney’s aw16 collection and go for an embroidered shirt like the lion detail silk shirt below. This is not a subtle trend so embrace it and don’t be afraid to go for a slightly OTT style.
Pyjama style shirt
This is a trend that has been coming for a while now and pyjama dressing is only getting stronger this autumn/winter. An easy way to tackle the trend while updating your shirt wardrobe is to add a pyjama shirt into your rotation. This style can be dressed up for work with a pair of tailored trousers and mid-heels, or dressed down for weekend wear with a pair of high-waisted jeans and slip on loafers.
Metallic pieces are huge this season but instead of trying to tackle a head to toe metallic look introduce this trend gradually by starting off with a metallic shirt. Double points for a metallic brocade shirt like the Prada style below.
Taking inspiration from Victorian style fashion, a ruffle neck blouse is this year’s must-have shirt update. If ruffles aren’t your thing and you’d prefer a more contemporary approach to the neck detail trend go for a tie-neck shirt, the seventies inspired twist on this look. Chloe designed a tie-neck denim blouse for aw16 and it is the perfect way to master this style.
This trend brings a hint of athleisure to tailoring making structured shirts more wearable for casual dressers, and athleisure approachable for those who prefer a more put-together look. Graphic stripes and colour block detailing are an easy way to brighten up your shirt collection, take your style cues from Marni and Stella McCartney for this trend.
