Renowned Irish designer Helen Cody will reveal her first couture collection in eight years this September. The show will take place on Tuesday September 6th in Christ Church Cathedral with all proceeds from ticket sales going to St.Francis hospice.
Helen’s career in the fashion industry spans almost three decades, gaining experience worldwide while working in London, Paris and New York for the likes of French Vogue and couture house Azzedine Alaia. After returning to Ireland in 2013 she re-established her fashion label which specialises in beautifully crafted, hand-made, unique clothing as well as some limited edition pieces, many of which take months of work to complete. Her pieces are created using only the finest Italian and French fabrics including silk, organza, cashmere and lace.
The couture collection which will be displayed at the show has taken six months to complete. Helen’s signature embellishment and embroidery have a strong scattering across the stories in the new couture collection which explains the lengthy production process. The collection includes references taken from artist Edward Burne-Jones, while Helen has also drawn inspiration from her own archive. Attendees can expect a collection with a rich colour palette in tones of deep Bordeaux, plum and berry juxtaposed with light fabrics such as lace and tulle, which will no doubt make for a unique autumn/winter couture collection.
Don’t miss what’s set to be an awe-inspiring show in a venue equally as stunning. Tickets for the show are priced at €50 and are available to purchase from Só Collective, Costume Boutique Castle Market, Havana Boutique Donnybrook and the St. Francis Hospice website (www.sfh.ie).
