Parisian ‘It’ girl, model and style sensation, Jeanne Damas has announced the launch of her own fashion label. Damas is to France, what Alexa Chung is to the UK, so Damas’s midas style touch is in much demand having already taken part in collaborations with brands such as & Other Stories and Leon & Harper; Rouje, however, is her first solo project. So what can we expect to see from this label?

It will be a ready-to-wear line that consists of classic, chic separates. Re-interpreting some of the basics of the perfect Parisian girl’s wardrobe, Rouje sees iconic classic pieces recreated in a contemporary and youthful design. 70’s style suede jackets are cut in boxy shapes with pockets and gold button detailing, denim pieces are produced in a dark indigo wash while maintaining classic cuts. The label is reminiscent of French brands Maje and Sandro, and the price point is similar too, with items starting at €49 for the Jeanne t-shirt and going up to €290 for the Mona suede jacket.

Damas herself features in the lookbook images on the site, along with a handful of models who are profiled on the site in the “Contributors” section. Designed as a collaboration among friends, Damas endeavored to create Rouje as a collective that would bring together stylists, models, artistic directors and photographers together on one platform.

Our picks from the virgin collection are the Sabina jeans- a classic straight leg shape with a high waist and slightly cropped leg and the Soko dress, a beautifully simple asymmetric wrap dress with a rounded golden ring belt. The Aude jacket is also quite striking. It is a safari style jacket in a thick denim fabric, cinched at the waist with a tie belt complete with D ring closure. The rounded collar, visible stitching and two front pockets make this denim jacket anything but ordinary. Many of the items are embroidered with a small ‘R’ somewhere on the fabric, some more visible than others, giving the label a simple but recognisable trademark.

Some items are available to purchase already on Rouje.com with more colour variations becoming available over the coming weeks.
