If you’re like us here at maven46, you’ll know the value of a good shoe. It can change your entire outfit, making a daytime look cocktail-ready with just a click (or three) of your heels. Shoes convey character and more often than not they are the first thing people notice upon meeting someone new. It stands to reason that if you are making considerable effort to your clothing up top then you should extend this down below too. Shoes are often the last thing you put on, but that doesn’t make them any less a part of the collective look. Your shoes should not be slipped on in some last dash out the door, they are as relevant as any other component of the outfit. And by paying closer attention to detail with your shoes, your entire outfit can be refreshed and updated in an instant.
We ladies generally have our collection of basics in our “shoedrobe” whatever the season. These are the pairs that you can wear with any outfit, that won’t date and will be worn so much they’ll garner need for a resoling or two to extend their lifespan. Among this list can be included; a pair of ankle boots, some flat comfortable everyday shoes such as brogues or loafers, sandals, trainers and a pair of classic heels. Along with this collection of basics, it’s always good to have a couple of pairs that may not stand the test of time (style or quality wise) but tick the trend boxes for a season or two and inject some life into your otherwise fail-proof, if not over-safe, collection.
While we here at maven46 don’t advocate jumping on every trend, we do enjoy introducing them to our wardrobes every now and then, especially when they are something that your personal style nods to anyway. Trends are inevitable and there’s no easier way to experiment with them than with footwear. So this season why not supplement your selection of shoes with a pair that will liven up the most basic of collections. But we’re sure you don’t need any more persuasion when it comes to buying a new pair (or two) to brighten up your summer wardrobe.
Step into the season with these covetable spring shoe trends. From mid-heel mules, to LED flatforms, designers had lots of fun with shoes for SS16. Those sky high stilettos of seasons past are no more as comfort reigns supreme this season. You (and your feet!) will be glad to hear that block heels, flatforms, and lace-up flats are all in. These comfortable styles aren’t strictly casual though, wear your mid-heel mules with cropped trousers and a polo neck for a look that’s both weekend and work week ready. Keep your feet firmly on the ground with pointed-toe lace up flats worn with a midi-skirt and wide-sleeve blouse for the office. And elevate your look by wearing flatforms with a floaty dress- go for a floral style to add a feminine touch. As for your bright and colourful sandals? Wear them with absolutely everything all summer long, because we could all do with a splash of colour to put an extra spring in our step.
Find your sole-mate in our shoppable section below where we’ve gathered the best of the bunch when it comes to this season’s shoes. So, whether you’re all about comfort in glove shoes for your 9-5, or kicking back on the weekend in a pair of mid-heel mules, we’ve got just the pair for you.
