It’s been little under a year since Cara Delevingne, once the fashion world’s darling, stated that modelling made her “feel a bit hollow” and that she would be focusing her time and energy on building her acting career. Creating a radio silence of Cara in fashion, we did wonder if we had truly seen the last of her. Fast forward to March 2016 and Cara is once again at the front of a new campaign.
The perfect choice for a creative director such as Hedi Slimane who makes his muses out of creatives and as of 1st April 2016 has decided to step down from his role in Saint Laurent, the model-come-actor is the new face of the brand’s ‘La Collection de Paris’ couture collection. The images, which debuted on Twitter yesterday, such is the power of social media and Saint Laurent, show Cara in the infamous Saint Laurent black tuxedo as well as a sequinned bustier and structured fur coat in avant garde fashion.
Commenting on Twitter in regards to her “return”, Cara simply said “I never quit“. Indeed it’s not her first foray back into fashion this year as she featured in Chanel’s eyewear campaign earlier this year to much less fanfare. This certainly won’t be her last either. Welcome back, Cara.
