There’s quite possibly nothing we love more than the weekend. The time to laze about, binge on Netflix and catch up with friends over brunch is too good to pass up on, and let’s face it, nothing truly says “weekend” better than brunch. And of course, brunching is the new lunching “dahling” in case you didn’t know! With restaurants focusing on their brunch clientele and menus more than ever before, spending lazy hours chatting to your pals in the new hip ‘n’ happening place is the new ‘thing’ to do. And if you’re like us, the opportunity to dress up makes the whole occasion that much better. But what to wear? Whether you’re meeting up with the girls for French toast and Mimosas or sipping a Bloody Mary and drooling over stacked pancakes in a 5* hotel, we’ve got your outfit sorted.

Brunch with friends

As we get closer to the maven46 SS16 Fashion Glossary and Beauty Brunch on April 2nd, the common question on everyone’s lips is “What are you wearing?“. Well, what do you wear to brunch in a café on a Saturday morning? There’s always the fear of looking underdressed when your impeccably stylish friend has got the look spot on, but arriving overdressed can be just as bad. It is a café after all.
This look that Olivia Palermo opted to wear to the Burberry AW16 show has “brunch” written all over it. A floral midi can both be dressed up and down and worn all year round, it just depends on your accessories. Teaming the dress with a pair of block-heeled boots gives the look a casual vibe while the belted waist makes everything look more appropriate for daytime- perfect for brunch with the girls.

Brunch with the family

Brunch with family can often last well into the afternoon so comfort is of the utmost importance, especially if there’s a handful of little people to keep an eye on. Luckily, comfort has been a key factor in all the trends of late from athleisure to normcore to geek chic so there’s no need to forget about looking stylish.
Alexa Chung gave us lesson 101 in how to look your Sunday best with this preppy ensemble. Throwing it back to the Noughties when a blazer and jean combo was our go-to outfit, Alexa smartly updated the look with a pair of cropped kick flare jeans and block-heel loafers, bringing it smack bang into 2016. With this outfit you’re ready for brunch with family, shopping with the girls and dinner with your other half. We love a hard working outfit, don’t you?

Brunch with a colleague

Brunch is supposed to be a relaxed affair, but what if you’re going with a co-worker to discuss next week’s conference or you need to venture in to work afterwards? There’s no need to arrive in typical 9-5 fashion but you still want to look appropriate.
Karlie Kloss nailed the off-duty business woman look with a pair of on trend high-waisted pants and timeless trench coat but the overall vibe of the look still remained smart and casual with trainers and a cosy knit jumper. Don’t be surprised if you see us all wearing this in the office next week. If trainers aren’t exactly suitable for your workplace though, just throw on a pair of pointed flats or this season’s It shoe, backless loafers and you’re good to go.
