Lacoste has taken a leaf out of Adidas’ book by launching a reinvention of its classic trainers for AW15. The collection, which is called Lacoste L!ve, is available exclusively on ASOS and features three key styles for the brand. The Rene slip-on plimsolls, the Wytham high-tops and the Rene lace-up trainers are re-done in a suede camouflage print of course featuring the iconic crocodile emblem.
While the collection might be aimed at men with sizes starting at a UK 6, the styles could certainly be worn by women alike if you’re lucky enough to find a size that fits. I tend to prefer “men’s” trainers anyway and you’ll find two very worn pairs in my wardrobe.
There seems to be no stopping the retro love affair anytime soon, with Adidas’ Stan Smiths being the shoe of 2015 for both men and women and the classic New Balance trainers can be seen up and down every street. The theme of the season seems to be ‘reinvented classics’ but of course the biggest reinvention of them all lies with Converse who redesigned its ubiquitous Chuck Taylor All Star trainer for the first time since the 1930s. Enter the Chuck Taylor All Star II. On first glance the iconic shoe looked no different but the revamp lies within the shoe which now features extra cushioning to enhance comfort. No complaints there.
It begs the question though which nostalgic trainers would you like to see revamped next?
