It seems like New York Fashion Week only just got underway but London is hot on its heels. Starting tomorrow, the 18th, and running straight through until the 22nd, London Fashion Week has always been a favourite of mine and this time looks set to be no different. But with more than 250 designers showcasing their work over the coming week, it’s almost impossible to keep up with every single one (I salute you if you can) so I’ve narrowed down the 5 presentations and shows you should keep your eye on.
Cecilie Bahnsen is a comtemporary fashion label that oozes Scandic style with a touch of London edge. SS16 is the designer’s debut collection and it doesn’t disappoint. Featuring modern and sleek silhouettes with beautifully intricate embroidery, this is “easygoing luxury”. Whether you’re a lover of the Sixties’ fun loving style or a more stripped back minimalist look, you’ll find a piece to covet in this collection.
When to see: 19th-22nd September, 09:30-19:00, LFW Designer Showrooms: RTW
If there’s one show the fashion world looks forward to during LFW it’s Simone Rocha. Ever since her debut in 2011, her collections have made a huge impact on each fashion week they have been showcased during and received critical acclaim. Having mastered the art of romanticism with boyish undertones, her collections successfully walk the line between femininity and masculinity without being perceived as androgynous.
When to watch: Catwalk show 19th September, 18:00
Danielle Romeril’s SS16 presentation is an exciting one to look forward to after the designer received sponsorship under the NEWGEN scheme yet again. The vibrant and youthful womenswear label offers a fresh approach to contemporary design.
When to see: Presentation 20th September, 14:30-16:30
21st September, 09:30-13:30, NEWGEN Pop Up Showroom
House of Holland
Fashion is meant to be fun and if there is one designer that proves this it’s Henry Holland. His label, House of Holland, never fails to be loud and exuberant. The clothing offers that London girl aesthetic. The House of Holland girl is cool, confident and savvy, just like the girls on the FROW. Even if the clothes aren’t your style, the catwalk show is still one to watch.
