The word on the fashion street with twitter all aflutter is that the diffusion label of Marc Jacobs will be no more, it will be absorbed into the main label while keeping some of the price points and merchandise from both labels in play.
There have been a lot of changes for the brand over the last few years with the biggest shake up being the hire of Katie Hillier as Creative Director and Luella Bartley as women’s wear Design Director. The move was a bold one, signalling a change in direction for the brand, with the dynamic duo offering much more rebellious urban logo-clad collections. They were youth inspired with an edge, showing a new millennial woman who wasn’t afraid to challenge the norm, but was it a step to far? There is still no mention of what will transpire for Katie Hillier and Luella Bartley, but with fashion being fashion, no one stays in one spot for too long.
What will happen to the designers and the label itself in the long run is a story yet to be played out but in the meantime hold on to your branded merchandise as you never know how much it might be worth in the future. Do I hear collectors items already? I think so.
