Bronzer is one of those products that, when used correctly, can transform your entire look from lacklustre to luminous in just a few sweeps. But with so many options out there, which bronzer is the one for you? Below, we’ve rounded up six of the best-selling bronzers on the market, from cream to liquid to the old reliable powder formulations that are so good, people will wonder if you’ve been on a sunny getaway recently. Whatever your bronzing preference, discover your new must-have bronzer.
Benefit’s Hoola is one of those beauty staples that has been around for what seems like forever. Make-up artists and beauty gurus alike constantly rave about this product, and many even call this their ‘holy grail’ bronzer.
Hoola is great for everyone regardless of make-up experience. The colour is buildable, and it’s easy to blend away any accidental harsh edges because of its powder formulation. This bronzer adds subtle warmth and depth to the face while the matte finish and fairly neutral undertone ensure that it will pair well with virtually any makeup look.
In 2017, Benefit added Hoola Lite to their collection alongside the original, and just this month added two new darker shades to the range, Caramel and Toasted, to create an inclusive array of shades in the same smooth, pigmented formula we’ve all come to know and love.
Too Faced is well known for their playful eyeshadow palettes that smell like chocolate and mascara that advertises being better than sex, but this lesser-known satin bronzer is one of my personal favourites from the brand.
This is a powder duo, so regardless of your skill, this bronzer applies evenly and blends perfectly with little to no effort. The ease of application, plus the fact that this compact contains both a bronzer and a highlighter, make this product a must-have staple for any season.
Too Faced is a certified cruelty-free brand, and this product is free of fragrance, talc, silicone, and mineral oil so it can be great for even the most sensitive of skin types. The satin finish gives this bronzer a natural appearance that will look fantastic with your everyday makeup. Pair with a natural gloss for ultimate sun-kissed vibes.
This universal cream-gel bronzer is a stunning shade for light to medium skin of any undertone. One of the many advantages of using a cream bronzer is that you can wear it under or over your foundation depending on the look you’re after that day.
You can apply this underneath your foundation for a subtle glow-from-within, or on top of your foundation for a sun-kissed goddess look. This can even be worn alone on bare skin on lazy make-up days. The velvet texture dries to a natural matte finish which looks great even on oily skin types.
Many women immediately balk at the idea of using cream make-up products of any kind, but this particular bronzer is anything but intimidating. Applied with a beauty sponge or brush, the soft, natural colour allows you to build to your ideal finish with ease. This is a fantastic cream product, even for beginners!
NARS’ original powder Laguna bronzer is a product that is known far and wide across the make-up community, and alongside their Orgasm blush, it’s the perfect bronzer for that shimmery, beachy glow. While NARS powder bronzers are undeniably great, their liquid bronzer formulation is an overlooked treasure!
What makes their liquid version so special is the formulation. This bronzing fluid is enriched with Monoi oil, tamanu oil and vanilla extract for moisturising and antioxidant benefits. The pigment is vibrant and long-lasting, meaning your glow is there to stay all day.
Since this is a liquid product, you can wear it on its own, under your foundation, or over your foundation, making this a versatile staple for every woman. The product is thin in consistency, but very pigmented so I recommend using a damp beauty sponge to blend this to your desired finish. Pair with a liquid highlighter for a beautiful natural look.
theBalm’s Bahama Mama bronzer is another beauty insider staple. This product allows you to achieve that irresistible sun-kissed complexion without any orange undertones. Fantastic for those with very fair skin, as well as those with light to medium or medium skin, and it is surprisingly universal on all undertones as well.
The matte finish and lack of orange undertones allow for this to be used as a bronzer, contour powder, or even eyeshadow. Its long-lasting formula means that no matter where you decide to apply it, it’s not going anywhere. Bahama Mama is free from talc and parabens, so you can apply your glow without worrying about clogging your pores.
Using your favourite bronzer brush, sweep this powder over your entire face for a radiant glow, or use an angled brush for precision contouring on your cheeks, forehead, and jawline to achieve that sculpted look. Bahama Mama is ultra pigmented but blends easily enough that it can be used daily.
This bronzer that isn’t really a bronzer, by Perricone MD, is amazing to wear on its own or with foundation. Even though this is a liquid product, it’s even easier to apply than powder products. Rub a few drops into clean hands and gently pat onto your forehead, cheeks, chin, and nose for an immediate brightening effect. You can add more to build the colour to suit your own complexion.
This No Bronzer Bronzer is scientifically formulated with Vitamin C Ester, enforcing Perricone MD’s emphasis on skincare first and foremost. This bronzer helps diffuse visible imperfections and sun damage, and the universal shade mimics healthy skin pigment.
The No Bronzer Bronzer is also a contouring serum that you can use to sculpt and accentuate your face structure, or it can be used as an additive to liquid foundation to create a custom colour. There is no need for sun when you’re wearing this bronzer, but it also has SPF 30 to protect your skin from harmful UV rays.
