Hair trends are one of the easiest ways to update your look each season. From natural waves to long braids, we’ve picked out the best to keep on your radar for the season ahead.

If the spring/summer shows taught us anything, it’s that simple doesn’t have to mean boring. Many of the hair trends we spotted were a twist on a classic look. Of course, there were a few exceptions to the rule… But who likes rules anyway?

Discover our five favourite hair trends for SS19.

Sleek and Shine

Missoni SS19

Missoni led the way with its take on a simple half up ponytail, followed by precision ponytails at Christopher Kane and sleek buns at Burberry. What made these classic looks become instantly modernised was the luxe high shine finish.

Wearable Wet Look

Chloé SS19

This can be a tricky one to translate into real life sometimes. At Markus Lupfer and Altuzarra, hair was glossy and slick, but we’re taking our cue from the Chloé show where hair was more textured rather than lacquered. The key to creating this effortless, swept-back look at home is to create volume at the front first, then apply a setting spray to add texture and hold.

Bold Braids

Max Mara SS19

Forget Little House on the Prairie, this year you’ll find that braids are a little bit tougher and a whole lot cooler. Sleek plaits were seen at Cushnie et Ochs and Erdem but our favourite had to be the Max Mara show though where hair was centre-parted, worn low and long, with super shine.

Micro Fringe

Prada SS19
Prada SS19

Inspired by Audrey Hepburn, the chic mini or micro fringe was a big hair trend for SS19. If you’re not ready to go for the chop there is another option though. At the Prada show in Milan, models were given clip-in hair pieces that were cut into micro fringes to temporarily mimic the look.

Hair Accessories

Versace SS19

This is possibly the biggest hair trend to emerge from the runways with fashion houses such as Dior, Versace and Gucci all getting in on the action. Yes, it’s safe to say that hair accessories and adornments are back with a bang for SS19. Everything from crocodile clips to snap clasps, headbands and headscarves were used to embellish hair with finesse.
