If you plan on travelling this year, one thing you’ll want to prepare for is jet lag. It isn’t just tiredness you need to worry about when you’re taking a long-haul flight, it can also really take its toll on your skin. However, there are ways to ensure you beat jet lag and your skin looks nice and fresh upon arrival. Below, you’ll discover five beauty tips you can follow to combat the effects jet lag can have on your skin.
Your jet lag beauty regime should start the minute you sit down on the flight. Take off any makeup you’re currently wearing, then apply a good moisturiser, eye and lip cream. This will help to prevent dehydration and replenish the skin while you’re flying. If you’re not too keen on the thought of arriving at your destination without makeup on, you can always apply a little in the toilet before you arrive.
Another thing that’s going to help the skin is drinking plenty of fluids. Ideally, you’ll want to stick to plain old water. However, sugar-free squash can also help if you prefer something with a little flavour. You’ll want to start drinking plenty of fluids a day or so before the flight, then keep your levels topped up as you are flying. As the skin is largely made up of water, drinking plenty of fluids will help to ensure it retains moisture during the flight.
You’ll also want to ensure you get plenty of rest on the flight. Take noise-cancelling headphones and an eye mask with you to help you catch a few ZZZs during a long-haul flight. However, you’ll want to make sure you’ve got a little time to rest after you land too so take advantage of aromatherapy and relaxing scents when you arrive at your hotel before your explorations begin.
Dark circles and dry lips are two of the biggest giveaways that you are jet-lagged. So, to disguise the problem, you’ll want a good concealer and tinted lip product. Makeup is the easiest way to hide the signs of jet lag until the body recovers.
If you find you have puffy eyes after the flight, you can instantly fix it once you arrive at your accommodation. Fill a large bowl with cold water and ice cubes, then place your face in the bowl for 5-10 seconds. Repeat this step up to five times and see how much of a difference it makes.
The above are just five great beauty tips to help fight off jet lag. Each takes just a minute or two, but they’ll ensure you feel nice and refreshed and ready to enjoy your break away.
