Bare more this summer

It’s summer, which means less of everything, including makeup. Mastering that minimalist barely there makeup look can be tricky if you are used to wearing full coverage foundations but going for the ‘no makeup, makeup’ look can also save you a lot of time in the mornings; your glowy natural day-to-day face should only take a maximum of ten minutes, meaning an extra ten minutes in bed! But where to begin? Discover the key steps and must-have products for creating a minimalist summer makeup look below.

Concealer

Not everyone is blessed with flawless skin but that doesn’t mean you can’t embrace a barely there look. If you want to conceal any blemishes or hide those stubborn under-eye circles then choosing the right concealer is the most important step. Apply the concealer on the areas you want that extra bit of coverage and dedicate some extra time to ensuring it is seamlessly blended. If you have oily skin then set the concealer with a light dusting on translucent powder. Once you have these areas of concern covered, you might be surprised at how good the rest of your skin looks without any foundation! These concealers below are perfect for giving you a natural, dewy finish that is perfect for summer.

Tinted Moisturiser

If you the thought of going foundation-free is too much to bear, opt for a tinted moisturiser or light foundation and leave anything that says full coverage on the bathroom shelf. These will give your skin a touch of coverage plus a hint of colour to tone down any redness and even out pigmentation without masking the texture of your skin which is key to keeping everything look au naturel.

Highlight & Bronze

Add an instant sunkissed glow with a creamy highlight and bronze duo. These products are great for giving your complexion a natural glow that looks like you’ve just returned from St Tropez. Apply highlighter to the tops of the cheekbones, Cupid’s bow and the inner corner of your eyes to make them look bigger and brighter. Apply bronzer to the hollows of your cheeks, the outer perimeter of your forehead and on your nose. Similar to concealer, ensure you spend some time blending these products into your skin.

Eyes & Eyebrows

Natural, feathered brows are the main statement for a minimalist face but don’t worry if your eyebrows look a little sparse naturally. Brow gel is the perfect way to get a fuller, fluffier looking brow which stays put all day. Along with brows, natural lashes are also key to keeping up the “I woke up like this” facade going. Stay clear of mascaras that claim to provide that false lash effect and instead stick with products that will add length and a hint of colour to your lashes but without the clumps. Glossier ‘Lash Slick’ and Benefit ‘They’re Real’ are the perfect barely there mascaras for enhancing your lashes while still looking natural.

Multi-Purpose Products

Multi-use products are your best friend when it comes to having a quick morning routine; products that can be used both as a blush, lip stain and a highlighter are the best for keeping your makeup routine to a minimum and cutting out all the faffing about with multiple different products. Opt for a creamy, sheer blush that you can also use on your lips for a fresh-faced look.

Lips

The finishing touch to the perfect ‘no makeup, makeup’ look is a hint of colour on the lips. Chose from a natural pink or a sheer red to add a little extra colour to your face for summer.
