From the must-see video launch of Chanel’s new perfume, Gabrielle, featuring Kristen Stewart to an ethical skincare brand that has gained worldwide recognition, check out what beauty news took us by surprise this week.
Meet the Irish skincare brand helping to save time, money and the environment
Cork-based skincare brand Human + Kind has gone from strength to strength since opening in 2011 with the aim of purifying daily skincare regimes. The cruelty-free, ethical brand prides itself on producing multi-functional, affordable products that contain only Mother Nature’s kindest ingredients without any harmful petrochemicals. With a long list of natural ingredients including Aloe Vera, bamboo and Shea butter, it’s no wonder why this brand has since gained worldwide recognition with products now distributed throughout the USA, Asia and Europe with key retailers including Sephora and Boots. Shop the Human + Kind ranges online and in selected stores.
The magic clay that has a 1000 person waiting list
Twin sisters Emily and Sarah launched Aussie brand Sand & Sky in May and have since built a mass following on social media with a whopping 43k – not bad for skincare newcomers. The cult mask was the only product made by the duo and reportedly sold 50,000 units in eight weeks worldwide, all the while managing to make a 1000 person waiting list to add to their efforts. The purifying pink clay mask promises to detoxify and brighten the skin all at once, with 83% of people recognising instant results. So, if you’re like the rest of us in trying to achieve that effortless glow, give this must-have mask a go.
Wasabi toothpaste is now a thing
Sushi fans rejoice! It’s been confirmed that Wasabi is now deemed acceptable to wash your teeth with, madness we know. Although this might be hard to fathom, the ingredients in the spicy green paste we associate with our California roll actually helps combat bad breath. Aesop is the first brand to have produced a fluoride-free toothpaste which combines wasabi, cardamom and sea buckthorn with familiar flavours such as spearmint and anise. But don’t fret, the toothpaste tastes more like liquorice than the sushi accompaniment so expect more of a refreshing sensation. Try the paste here.
Watch Kristen Stewart dancing to Beyoncé in new Chanel advert
Known for its memorable adverts, Chanel continues to create hype with the release of the video advert for its new ‘abstract floral’ perfume, Gabrielle, and we can’t get enough of it! Featuring Kristen Stewart, a brand ambassador for the past four years, dancing, fighting and thrashing her way out of a mesh cocoon to one of Beyoncé’s classic tracks Runnin’ is a sight to behold. Directed by Ringan Ledwidge, the short film is a metaphor for the journey of Gabrielle Chanel, “A rebel at heart – she freed herself to become the woman she wanted to be.” Stewart’s performance is definitely a sight to be seen and a big step from the love story campaigns of yore.
