Let’s face it, most of us tend to opt for a low maintenance, fast delivery approach to our make up when it comes to the weekdays. The joy we found applying foundation on Saturday night is a little more tedious on a Monday morning. Unless you’re a professional make-up artist, have a lot of time on your hands or truly love make-up, putting on your face at the crack of dawn can be a tiresome job. Let us give you a beauty steer in the right direction with our seven day guide full of SS16 beauty looks that will see you through the week from Monday to Sunday.

Monday: Ponytail and BB cream

Nothing can pull us together on a Monday like a ‘no make-up make-up’ look and textured ponytail. Instead of being bold and trying to tackle this usually miserable day, why not go with the flow and take a carefree approach to the day? Ditch the foundation for a glowing BB cream and light handedly apply bronzer on your cheeks and temples for a less structured contour. To finish, spritz sea salt spray in your hair to add a purposefully messy feel to your ponytail because nobody has time for straightening irons and curling tongs on Monday.

Tuesday: Bottom Lashes

This new trend is what an everyday girl needs in her life! If you want to spice things up with your make-up but don’t want anything too daring, then this look is for you. Keep the rest of your make-up simple and really focus all of your energy on amping up those bottom lashes to make your eyes pop. There’s no need to apply your mascara gingerly here- layer it on or if you’re feeling daring you can apply individual lashes like the models did for Marni’s SS16 show (whether you opt for such extreme length on your top lashes is up to you). It’s sophisticated and pretty while still trying something new.

Wednesday: Braids

By Wednesday you might be ready to start a look. With Friday clearly in sight you’ll probably want to try something a tad more daring but still obtainable. Why not try your hand at braiding? This look is everywhere at the minute from the Kardashians to the runway. If French braids are too hard or time consuming, pull your hair into a low ponytail and create just one plait as seen at Proenza Schouler. There’s no wrong parting here! To finish things off, add a sophisticated cat eye flick to avoid looking too much like a 12 year old.

Thursday: Berry Lip

A berry lip can take you from day to night, which is probably what you’ll be doing on Thursday. Again, you can keep your base simple for this look but do apply mascara to your lashes to prevent the lip becoming too overbearing. Thankfully, berry lipsticks go well with all skin tones- it’s just a matter of finding the shade that you like and voilà. Of course, with a dark lipstick like this you’ll also want to find a matching lip liner to provide longevity and keep things looking precise.

Friday: Straight Hair and Red Lip

Start your weekend off right with a bold and sexy look. Take a leaf out of the old Hollywood glamour book with a red lip but ditch the voluminous curls. Modernise the look with pin straight hair that is sleek and glossy. Apply some oil or smoothing cream to your tresses to keep any mischievous frizz at bay and add that extra shine.

Saturday: Metallic Eyes

Nothing says a night out like a touch of sparkle so put on some silver liner and head for the town. This metallic look is just we need to get us into the Saturday spirit. Make like Emily Ratajkowski and colour in your waterline with a charcoal or black liner or if you want a more subtle approach add some silver eyeshadow to the inside corner of your eyes to make everything pop.

Sunday: Bed Head

All anyone should be wearing on a Sunday is a messy bed head and their pyjamas. Sunday is the day of rest so don’t sweat too much on what you look like for the day and give you skin a chance to breathe before you start your beauty routine all over again come Monday morning.
