The world of fashion is always one step ahead (at least) and while we’re still rocking the berry lips of winter, the trends for next season have already been set so let’s look forward and see what spring has in store for us…

Faux Freckles

Emanuel Ungaro SS16
Francesco Scognamiglio SS16

As seen at Emanuel Ungaro, the faux freckle look pioneered by makeup maestro, Val Garland, has continued through from last year and returned for another season. It is a simple way to give your makeup a little summery touch without too much effort. The key to getting it to look more natural is to use a couple of different shades of pencils dotted around the nose and cheeks for a natural, sun-kissed finish.

Colour Pop Lips

Marchesa SS16
Céline SS16

Bright lips are set to be another big trend for spring as designers at Marchesa and Céline chose vibrant lip colours as the focal point of their runway looks. The texture of choice is semi matte, which can either be achieved by blotting down on a regular lipstick or adding a slick of balm underneath a matte shade.

Shop the look:

Lashings of Lashes

Alberta Ferretti SS16
Marni SS16

Lashes of all forms dominated the runway from the punky, spidery look at Giles and feathery, doll-like eyes at Alberta Ferretti to artsy, false lashes at Louis Vuitton and Marni. With so many varieties available, there are no real rules at all, just room to play, experiment and have fun.

Shop the look:

Aquatic Eyes

Missoni SS16

As a nod to the ’70s trends coming through, royal blue, sea foam green and fresh aqua popped up on a number of runways for SS16 including DKNY, where the look was teamed with chocolate eyeliner for an interesting twist, and Missoni, who chose to make their look more graphic for maximum impact.

Shop the look:

Big Brows

Christopher Kane SS16
Balmain SS16

Whether worn big and bushy, or “feral” as described at the Christopher Kane show, or groomed and defined like the Balmain girls, it seems strong brows are staying strong  for yet another season. Bench the tweezers!
